Previous
to buying the field Elaine's aged Shetland `Hector' had lost his fight
with a long-standing illness and, on veterinary advice, had been put to
sleep. He was the only one of her original equines not to make the trip to
their new home. In memory of him she named the field Hector's Gate so he
would never be forgotten.
The
number of animals who have come to Hector's Gate over the last nine years
total in excess of 40. Sadly some of these are no longer with us and are
commemorated by the trees and shrubs planted in the `loved
and lost'
garden. At present Hector's Gate is a permanent home to sheep, cats, dogs
Shetlands, cobs and ponies.
